Nelson's Rotties

Great American Rottweilers

Welcome to Nelson's Rotties. We are not a commercial breeder nor are we a kennel. Porsche produced her first litter, mated to Ruger, in mid-June. We had 6 beautiful puppies, all of which now  have great homes.

Our rotties are totally spoiled, and totally loved. They provide us with unconditional love and affection and they only want to be loved in return. Once you view this website, you will have no doubt that they are indeed our life. One thing that separates Nelson's Rotties from actual kennels and commercial breeders is that we will never sell off our babies just because they are out of breeding age. They will be with us until they go to Rainbow Bridge, hopefully a very very long time from now.

The Rottweiler is an outstanding companion and guard, but ownership of

a Rottweiler carries much greater than average legal and moral responsibilities, due to traits possessed by this breed, their size and strength. This information is offered as a guide to prospective Rottweiler buyers who may or may not be aware of all the special qualities possessed by this breed, both positive and negative, so that they can make an accurate estimate of their needs in relation to the demands of Rottweiler ownership. The Rottweiler IS NOT a breed that fits into every home.

The Rottie, as it is affectionately known, is a very devoted, protective family dog, wary of strangers, possibly overly protective if it deems its family is threatened, wherein lies a potential danger with some dogs, if proper early training is neglected. Rotties require daily mental, physical, rigorous exercise like jogging outdoors or a long walk. A Rottweiler puppyRottie enjoys the cold, but can overheat in hot weather. Grooming requirements are minimal. Regular brushing is sufficient. The Rottweiler puppy is intelligent, highly trainable, and makes a good pet for the right family.  needs lots of early socialization and formal obedience training, and plenty of indoor family time for bonding to the whole family.

Rottweilers love their people and may behave in a clownish manner toward family and friends, but they are also protective of their territory and do not welcome strangers until properly introduced. Obedience training and socialization are musts. Rottweilers must be exercised daily, and must know their place in your family. Our Rotties are our children, they are treated like our children, and give us unconditional love. Don't be fooled....they are our protectors as well. I raised my first of many rotties 20 years ago. I work with the Rottie Rescue of NC, as well as a couple of other rescues and I will say...the Rottie is my favorite above all.
